Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a dedicated team to provide high-quality veterinary care in underserved communities. Support the professional growth of fellow veterinarians while making a significant impact on animal welfare through compassionate care and innovative practices.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and performance evaluation
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-volume surgical procedures
Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage
Participate in monthly veterinary medicine rounds and meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Possess ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
