Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for operating CT scanners and obtaining diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested. The technologist must be able to produce quality images for radiologist interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, verify identity, and obtain pertinent history and documentation.
- Review physician orders, current medications, allergies, and questionnaires.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure understanding.
- Position patients, scan, and archive images per established protocols.
- Administer contrast media following proper venipuncture and safety techniques.
- Identify, prepare, administer, and document medications as required.
- Reconcile medications to avoid interactions with contrast agents.
- Assist physicians with invasive procedures as applicable.
- Use radiation-reducing techniques while maintaining image quality.
- Protect patients, self, and others from radiation exposure.
- Assist coworkers in other modalities, including IV starts and patient prep.
- Observe patients and minimize risks of falls or injury.
- Complete all tasks efficiently and in compliance with hospital policies.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT experience required; experience with Cardiac, TAVR, CTA, Code Stroke, HD, CAP, Spine preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: ARRT (CT registered), Active Ohio Radiographer License, BLS (AHA).
- Education: Graduate of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology, sterile techniques, patient positioning, and x-ray equipment operation.
Important Notes
- Duration: 13 weeks.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM, 4x10s, with every 4th weekend (2:30 PM – 1:00 AM). Techs may switch for RTO coverage. Must cover 3rd shift vacations when needed.
- Systems: Phillips CT, Bracco injector, Epic, McKesson PACS.
- Setting: Outpatient, Inpatient, and Emergency exams.
