Job Description

Join Optum as an Outpatient Registration Specialist, where you'll be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth admission process and compassionate care. Your role will greatly impact health outcomes by managing patient information and insurance verification efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process
  • Respond to patient and caregiver inquiries in a compassionate manner
  • Obtain benefits and insurance verification
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance
  • Accurate computer data entry
  • Scan documents
  • Organize and schedule patient services and appointments
  • Register and pre-register patients for various cases
  • Work with patient registration and electronic medical record systems
  • Generate, review, and analyze patient data reports

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ years of experience with insurance policies and procedures
  • Access to reliable transportation & valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience submitting authorization requests and/or processing referrals
  • Previous experience in collecting patient copays, deductibles, etc.
  • Previous working experience with Google products
  • Working knowledge of facility pricing structure and cost estimates
  • Knowledge of ICD9 (10) and CPT terminology
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Bilingual fluency with English & Spanish
