Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.
Responsibilities:
Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission; develop individualized care plans.
Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to identify teaching needs and goals.
Provide timely updates on patient status during team conferences; document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately.
Participate in patient rehabilitation programs; provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate).
Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from admission.
Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.
Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment; participate in team building.
Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and training.
Provide care in a cost-effective manner while promoting quality outcomes.
Assume charge responsibility as requested post-orientation.
Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Qualifications:
Active RN license
Experience in LTAC, med-surg, or similar acute care setting preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and leadership skills
