Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission; develop individualized care plans.

  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to identify teaching needs and goals.

  • Provide timely updates on patient status during team conferences; document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately.

  • Participate in patient rehabilitation programs; provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate).

  • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from admission.

  • Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.

  • Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.

  • Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.

  • Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment; participate in team building.

  • Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and training.

  • Provide care in a cost-effective manner while promoting quality outcomes.

  • Assume charge responsibility as requested post-orientation.

  • Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license

  • Experience in LTAC, med-surg, or similar acute care setting preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and leadership skills
