Job Description
The Vice President and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Akron Children's Hospital is a pivotal leadership role responsible for advancing nursing excellence and strategic initiatives. Collaborating closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and healthcare leaders, the ACNO ensures high-quality, family-centered patient care while promoting innovation, workforce optimization, and operational efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with CNO and executive leadership to establish and execute strategic goals for nursing services
Ensure integrated patient care across all settings adhering to professional and regulatory standards
Champion patient safety and quality initiatives
Oversee nursing and patient care services, managing budgets and resources
Supervise staff including hiring, evaluation, coaching and development
Lead workforce optimization initiatives for recruitment and retention
Promote innovative nursing practices and care delivery models
Guide change management processes
Foster a trusting and inclusive environment for family-centered care
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required
Registered Nurse (RN) with a current license in Ohio
Professional certification in nursing or healthcare leadership required, or obtained within 2 years of hire
Minimum of 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD) in nursing preferred
MBA, MHA, or other related health care area in addition to MSN preferred
Experience in a Magnet-designated organization preferred
