As RN in the Emergency Department (ED) at Akron General’s Bath and Wellness Center, you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, compassionate, safety-conscious, and highly skilled who thrives in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment. Having a patient-first mindset will help ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. A caregiver in this position works nights 7:00 p.m. -- 7:00 a.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Complete Emergency Department assessment data based upon patients’ arrival, inclusive of psychosocial, educational and age specific needs.
- Review and document care and discharge goals with physicians, patients and families.
- Administer and document IVs and medications.
- Intervene when changes in a patient’s condition occur and document nursing interventions and patient’s responses.
- Assign and delegate appropriate patient care activities to other nursing caregivers.
- Provide appropriate care for alleged rape/sexual assault victims.
- Provide community referrals to patients and families.
- Complete mandatory education and training to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within three months of employment/transfer
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Two years of emergency room experience or relevant critical care experience

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
