Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for distribution to patients, cafeteria, and catering services
  • Obtain appropriate ingredients from storage
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian
  • Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience in commercial production food service
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire
  • Relevant work experience in a hospital setting or commercial kitchen
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and good organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking
  • Knowledge of food preparation by recipe
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team
  • Must maintain a clean and neat appearance
