Key Responsibilities

  • Determine methods, sequence, equipment, and tools required to perform rework and repair of precision machined parts
  • Work with and interpret prints, documents, sketches, specifications, and verbal information
  • Disassemble, finish, fit, check, and assemble parts and assemblies
  • Use precision measuring instruments to derive required measurements
  • Lead and support lower classification employees
  • Receive work assignments and coordinate with shop priorities
  • Ensure correct part numbers and quantities are issued
  • Operate mechanical lifts as required
  • Set up assembly tools per tooling instructions or drawings
  • Fabricate detail parts and design custom tools for specific tasks
  • Operate milling and lathe machines for custom shop aids
  • Drill, ream, and countersink oversized/re-work holes
  • Apply sealant, alodine, primer, and adhesives as required
  • Design and fabricate one-of-a-kind fixtures for close tolerance machining
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely

Required Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting and working from blueprints, sketches, and written and verbal instructions in English
  • 5+ years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment
  • Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces
  • 5+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite
  • 5+ years of experience using math that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions
  • 3+ years of experience in a machine or aviation shop environment
  • 1+ years of experience operating manual mill and manual lathe machines

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft, automotive or ship re-work
