Schedule:- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Nights)
- Weekends: Every Other Weekend (EOW) required.
- Unit Stats:- Beds: 26 | Avg. Staffing Ratio: 1:2 (Patient-to-Nurse)
Active NYS RN License and BLS Certification.
- EPIC EMR experience highly preferred.
Minimum 2 years RN experience in CSICU, CCU, or Post-Open Heart Recovery.
- 1+ year travel experience (for Travel RN role).
- Management of post-cardiac surgery patients (VADs, ECMO, STEMI, CABG, etc.).
- Telemetry/hemodynamic monitoring expertise.
The Clinical Nurse provides specialized care to critically ill cardiac surgery patients in a high-acuity CSICU/CCU setting. The role demands adherence to Mount Sinai's Relationship Centered Care (MSHRCC) model, ensuring safe, evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Clinical Care
- Manage post-open heart surgery patients, including ventricular assist devices (VADs), ECMO, and complex cardiovascular cases.
- Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz, arterial lines, CVP).
Quality & Safety
- Adhere to high-reliability principles to mitigate risks in critical care.
- staffing shortages, equipment gaps).
Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding (4 Ps: Pain, Positioning, Possessions, Potty).
- Lead bedside shift reports and family education on care plans.
Operations
- Charge nurse duties as assigned (resource allocation, supply management).
- Document in EPIC with compliance to regulatory standards (TJC, NYSNA).
Fast-paced CSICU/CCU with 26 beds and a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.
- Team: Collaborative interdisciplinary rounds with cardiologists, surgeons, and APPs.
- Tech: EPIC charting, advanced cardiac monitoring systems.
