Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and lead a dedicated team providing critical veterinary care to underserved communities. You will ensure high-quality care for pets while fostering a positive work environment and developing fellow veterinarians. This role combines leadership, hands-on veterinary practice, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
  • Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques
  • Support a positive work culture
  • Perform high-quality spay/neuter surgical procedures
  • Provide preventive and basic care to patients
  • Triage and refer cases appropriately
  • Support internal ASPCA departments with medical consultations

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Excellent work attendance record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
