Job Description

Join Optum as a Per Diem Associate Patient Care Coordinator, where you'll support patient care delivery in various areas such as the Emergency department. This is a flexible role requiring adaptability to work shifts and holidays, offering 6-8 weeks of paid training to set you up for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and patients in person
  • Communicates via telephone or video, providing excellent customer service
  • Handles confidential information appropriately
  • Follows departmental processes in the Switchboard
  • Assesses and identifies immediate emergency needs
  • Maintains current physician on-call schedules
  • Updates patient demographic and financial information
  • Coordinates patient admissions and bed assignments
  • Balances the cash box daily

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or 5+ years of customer service experience in an office setting
  • 1+ years of customer service experience in a medical office setting
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work 2 shifts per pay period, 1 weekend per month, and 2 holidays per year
  • Must be 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Emergency Department
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with electronic medical records system
  • Experience in a medical office or hospital admitting/registration office
