PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Hermitage, TN 37076 (Greater Nashville area – Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) contract
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 – End: 2/16/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1440–$1550
• Self-Scheduling: 4-week schedules, every other weekend required
• Dress Code: Black scrubs

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or acute care RN experience
• Strong critical thinking skills and EKG rhythm interpretation proficiency
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and peripheral IV skills
• Advanced skills: BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, multiple oxygen delivery systems, stroke and post-cardiac cath care
• Preferred: Peritoneal dialysis, tube feedings, NG/Dobhoff tubes

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to PCU patients (1:4–1:5 patient ratio on days)
• Assist with and perform procedures: peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, NG/Dobhoff tube insertions, central line dressing changes, wound vac troubleshooting
• Document patient care using Meditech EMR
• Conduct hourly rounding (days) and every 2-hour rounding (nights) to enhance patient experience
• Communicate effectively using AIDET and maintain patient communication boards
• Collaborate with healthcare techs and unit secretaries for comprehensive patient care
• Float between PCU units or to medical-surgical (med-surg) floors as needed
