The Senior Director of Behavior at the ASPCA leads the behavioral care for animals at the ARC and CARE, ensuring their medical and behavioral health while overseeing a dedicated team. This role includes managing research initiatives to advance animal welfare and collaborating closely with various departments to optimize care practices.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress patient and population care
Manage, coach, and collaborate with a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects and share knowledge within the organization
Required Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in animal Behavior or related discipline or DVM degree
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Experience working with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Fear Free certification within 6 months of hire
Ability to work additional hours, weekends, and respond to after-hours concerns
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Interest in contributing to writing scientific publications
