Job Description

Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to make a meaningful impact in behavioral health care. You'll support patients and clinicians by managing check-ins, processing payments, and ensuring a welcoming environment, all while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts prior to appointments
  • Complete patient check-ins and check-outs
  • Assist with onboarding new patients and ensure paperwork is completed
  • Process payments and co-pays
  • Manage scheduling and patient communications
  • Support prescribers with prior authorizations and lab tests
  • Maintain a welcoming environment at work locations
  • Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality
  • Obtain and record vital signs and patient history

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of experience in an office environment (preferably in a mental health or medical setting)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with insurance verification
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team
