Job Description
Join Mount Carmel Health System as a part-time Cook, where you'll prepare meals for patients and cafeteria services. Key Responsibilities
Cook and prepare food for patients, cafeteria, and catering services
Obtain appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes
Lift and carry medium to heavy food and equipment
Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian
Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and special orders
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience in commercial production food service
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire
Effective communication and customer service skills
Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and good organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen
Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking
Knowledge of food preparation by recipe
