Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. This position involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while providing direct patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis for an individualized care plan.
- Identify patient teaching needs and goals based on the nursing admission assessment through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates on patient information and status for initial and re-evaluation team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and punctually in the medical record.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on education based on identified healthcare needs.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and anticipate patient teaching needs.
- Communicate changes in patient status among care providers to ensure continuity of care and support patient safety.
- Offer direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, employing effective decision-making and organizational skills.
- Maintain personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Manage supplies and equipment efficiently to maintain cost-effectiveness and promote quality outcomes.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested following the orientation period.
- Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
- Plan and prioritize activities for effective use of time and staff to meet patient needs.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS required prior to the first shift (specific to particular facilities).
- Minimum of two (2) years bedside clinical experience.
- EPIC experience is required.
