Job Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room:
- Set up sterile field, surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
- During surgery:
- Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon
- Prepare and manage surgical equipment
- Maintain sterile field integrity
- Handle surgical specimens
- Perform sponge and supply counts to prevent retained foreign objects
Certification Requirements
- Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Certification from CAAHEP-accredited or other approved program
- Must have passed the CST exam from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Experience Requirements
- Expertise required in:
- Orthopedics
- Orthospine
- Robotics (Da Vinci Xi system)
- Vascular experience – Preferred
- Minimum of 4 on-call shifts per month required
