To do so, we rely on a dynamic, culturally diverse group of employees, working in more than 100 countries, in various challenging roles.Under the guidance of the Assistant General Counsel, Corporate Affairs Division, to serve as counsel to and advocate for FM on all matters assigned. Examples include:Advice on governance, data privacy and security, corporate acquisitions/dispositions and joint venturesConsultant, vendor and service contractsInvestment and banking transactionsIntellectual property matters including nondisclosure agreements, patents, trademarks and copyrightCorporate and individual licensingBrokerage agreementsPolicy contracting and termination mattersLegislative and regulatory monitoring, influencing and assuring complianceSchedule & LocationThis is a full-time exempt position that can be based on-site in Johnston, RI or Norwood, MA. Flexibility for one remote workday per week based on business needs. Domestic travel may be required up to 10% annually.Responsibilities

Oversee and administer the delivery of timely and effective legal assistance to the FM community except policy defense, litigation and subrogation matters.Monitor, influence, analyze and assure compliance with new or pending legislation, regulations and cases relative to their potential impact on the company, advising appropriate company personnel accordingly; this involves both Federal and State laws and requires an in-depth understanding of the operations of the company.Analyze for management the legal exposures of the company and make recommendations to reduce exposures to liability or to loss of company rights and assets.Initiate or encourage proactive policies, procedures and strategies in this regard.Assure that company operations are within the limits prescribed by law.Qualifications

BA or BSJuris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the Rhode Island Bar or at least one other state barRequired Work Experience3+ years in a law firm or corporate legal departmentHighly Preferred Work ExperienceRange of general corporate legal experience, preferably in a property/casualty insurance environmentRequired SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to translate complex legal concepts into practical adviceThe annual salary for this position is $117,280 to $168,600 and will be determined based on individual qualifications.
