Travel Respiratory Therapist (RT) – West Orange, NJ
Shift: Nights, 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Rotating weekends
Start Date: ASAP

We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a night shift travel contract in West Orange, NJ . This role involves delivering high-quality, intensive respiratory care in a fast-paced hospital environment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized respiratory care plans

• Deliver physician-prescribed therapies using various invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment

• Administer medications via aerosol and nebulizer therapies

• Perform suctioning (oral, nasal, tracheal), chest physiotherapy, and tracheostomy care

• Conduct pulmonary function tests (NIF, VC, etc.) and 12-lead EKGs

• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography tools

• Assist with respiratory procedures including bronchoscopies, chest tube placements, and percutaneous tracheostomies

• Perform arterial punctures and interpret results for ventilation efficiency

• Set up and monitor mechanical ventilation, and complete required equipment maintenance

• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of care and communicate updates during shift handoffs

• Adhere to infection control, safety, and equipment protocols

• Participate in emergency care including CPR and endotracheal intubation

Requirements:

• Active Respiratory Therapist license (New Jersey)

• BLS and ACLS certifications

• Recent hospital-based experience with acute and intensive respiratory care

• Comfortable with rotating weekends and night shifts

• Proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory therapy documentation
