ICU RN – Nampa Hospital (Floor 1)

Department: Intensive Care Unit

Position Details

  • Shift: 7p–7a (12-hour nights)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend (may vary based on need)
  • Orientation: 1–2 shifts (based on experience)
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles

Unit Information

  • # of Beds: 10
  • Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Support Staff:
    • Charge RN (no patient assignment)
    • Admin Supervisor 24/7
    • Crisis Nurse 24/7
    • CNA: 1 per shift
    • RT: In ICU 24/7
    • Hospitalist: On site 24/7
    • Intensivist: Telehealth 24/7
  • Monitor Techs: None – RNs read their own strips (Spacelabs)

Patient Population

Common diagnoses include:

  • Heart Failure
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Sepsis
  • Vented patients
  • GI Bleeds
  • Stroke (including tPA)
  • Post-codes
  • Pneumonia
  • Post-surgical complications (non-specialty surgeries)

CRRT: Travelers will not manage CRRT patients.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (Stroke Certification)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year ICU experience
  • Open to first-time travelers
  • Must be a strong team player

Drips & Equipment

Titration Required: Yes
Common Drips:

  • Propofol
  • Levophed
  • Dobutamine
  • Vasopressin
  • Fentanyl
  • Epinephrine
  • Diltiazem

RT Equipment:

  • Ventilators
  • High Flow
  • BiPAP

Scheduling & Floating

  • Scheduling: By unit scheduler (can group/block shifts)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (flexible based on need)
  • Holiday Requirement: As needed
  • Floating:
    • May float to Tele (1:3 ratio typical, may take full assignment)
    • May also float to Meridian and Boise ICUs

Dress Code

  • Any clean and professional scrubs (no specific color required)
