Job Title : Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (MICU RN)** Job Summary :

A Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (MICU RN) provides specialized, high-level nursing care to critically ill patients who require close monitoring and advanced interventions. The MICU RN focuses on managing complex medical conditions, such as respiratory failure, sepsis, organ failure, and other life-threatening illnesses. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assess, plan, and implement care for critically ill patients in the MICU, managing complex medical conditions and life-threatening situations.
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ vital signs, physiological status, and responses to treatment, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and life-support interventions such as mechanical ventilation, vasopressors, and sedation.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Provide advanced critical care for conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, acute renal failure, and cardiac dysfunction.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and expected outcomes, ensuring understanding and emotional support.
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening complications such as arrhythmias, sepsis, acute respiratory distress, and multi-system organ failure.
• Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line monitoring, and other critical interventions.
• Support patients in pain management, including the use of opioids, sedation, and non-pharmacological approaches.
• Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in accordance with hospital policies.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families in high-stress, critical care environments.

Qualifications :

• Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
• Licensure :
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Certification :
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
