Job Description
The Lead Veterinarian will support the ASPCA’s Community Medicine team by leading and mentoring veterinarians, ensuring high-quality veterinary care for underserved communities. You'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional client experiences while overseeing clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and performance evaluation
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and surgical procedures
Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
Participate in monthly veterinary medicine rounds and meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
