Key Responsibilities

  • Provide developmentally and educationally based intervention
  • Data input into secure, computerized systems for reports and billing
  • Implement treatment plans and programs
  • Deliver specialized individual and group occupational therapy instruction
  • Collect data and complete reports on student progress
  • Consult with other professionals on the student's treatment team
  • Assess and document each student’s progress
  • Write and prepare annual review reports and goals
  • Provide parent and caregiver support and education
  • Attend school-related meetings
  • Ensure a suitable learning environment
  • Provide screenings and evaluations
  • Supervise COTA(s) as needed
  • Communicate with schools and families for therapy referrals
  • Follow safety guidelines for functional mobility
  • Maintain quality of therapy records
  • Participate in training programs for students and staff

Required Qualifications

  • Appropriate State License
  • NYSED Certification Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
  • Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
  • Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with preschool referrals
  • Willingness to work with medically fragile children
