Key Responsibilities
Provide developmentally and educationally based intervention
Data input into secure, computerized systems for reports and billing
Implement treatment plans and programs
Deliver specialized individual and group occupational therapy instruction
Collect data and complete reports on student progress
Consult with other professionals on the student's treatment team
Assess and document each student’s progress
Write and prepare annual review reports and goals
Provide parent and caregiver support and education
Attend school-related meetings
Ensure a suitable learning environment
Provide screenings and evaluations
Supervise COTA(s) as needed
Communicate with schools and families for therapy referrals
Follow safety guidelines for functional mobility
Maintain quality of therapy records
Participate in training programs for students and staff
Required Qualifications
Appropriate State License
NYSED Certification Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice
Current CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with preschool referrals
Willingness to work with medically fragile children
