Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Manchester, NH

 

Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (6 shifts per contract)
  • Float Requirement: Yes – to Mother/Baby, ICU, ED (for task-based support only)
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
  • Orientation Hours: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Any color
  • Local Candidates: Accepted (rate reduced by $15 if within 50 miles)
  • First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Former Employees of SolutionHealth: Not eligible, regardless of time since employment

Qualifications

  • License: Active, unrestricted RN license in NH or valid compact license – Required
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate* – Required
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years preferred (will screen for 1–2 years)
  • Charge Nurse Experience: Preferred
  • Travel Experience: Required
  • Charting System: Epic – Experience required
  • Circulating for C-sections: Required

Skills & Procedures

Labor & Delivery:

  • High-risk delivery support
  • Vaginal delivery assistance
  • C-section circulation and recovery
  • Hemorrhage/shock management
  • Sterile vaginal exams
  • Forceps/vacuum extraction

Medication Administration:

  • Magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Pitocin, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins
  • Anticoagulants, Anticonvulsants, Antihypertensives
  • Insulin drips

Neonatal Care:

  • APGAR scoring
  • Cord sample collection
  • Thermoregulation
  • Newborn hypoglycemia
  • NAS monitoring
  • Phototherapy
  • Discharge teaching

Antepartum & Postpartum:

  • NSTs, speculum exams, triage
  • VBAC/TOLAC
  • Postpartum hemorrhage
  • Couplet care
  • Multiple births

Surgical Procedures:

  • D&C
  • Tubal ligation
  • Cervical cerclage
  • Hysterectomy (if indicated for PPH)

Pain Management:

  • Epidural, general anesthesia
  • Nitrous oxide
  • PCA use

Fetal Monitoring:

  • External & internal monitoring
  • IUPC placement/calibration
  • Recognition of abnormal patterns

IV Therapy:

  • Start/maintain peripheral IVs

  • Support Services: IV Teams, PT, RT, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Rapid Response, Unit Secretary
  • OB Coverage: In-house 24/7
  • ORs: 2 within L&D, staffed by labor team
