ASSOCIATE OPTOMETRIST
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Optometrist functions as the primary eye care provider for the practice. This includes growing into a leadership role, mentoring and educating staff members, and aligning with our vision of being the most loved and trusted eye care practice in the community.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES :
Conduct full-scope ethical eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation.
Diagnose and medically treat ocular disease.
Properly prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses.
Properly fit and prescribe contact lenses.
Effectively communicate with optical associates to maximize optical sales through proper education.
Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
Answer questions and provide advice to patient community regarding vision and overall ocular health.
Establish an excellent doctor / patient relationship and trust which will foster a high patient retention rate and build a strong patient base.
Provide guidance and leadership to fellow staff members and work well in a group setting while fostering a positive work culture.
Assist in the development of the overall practice through accountability and driving results.
Align all work-related decisions with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values
Conduct all services in accordance with Company protocols and the optometric standard of care
KEY COMPETENCIES :
Demonstrates superior emotional intelligence with colleagues and patients
Ability to prioritize work efficiently
Problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality with staff members and patients; HIPAA compliant
Collaborate with doctors by keeping a finger ‘on the pulse’ of the patient experience
Keep current with optometric technology and research to best serve the patients
Follows all company policy and procedures to ensure safety and security of the business.
Proper interpretation and reporting of diagnostic testing including Optos, OCT, VF, topography, pachymetry, retinal and anterior segment photography, punctal plug insertion, corneal and conjunctival FB removal
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Doctorate in Optometry by an accredited college required
Active Rhode Island State Optometry License (TX RX Amplified Glaucoma & Controlled Substance Registration required)
Meets all required state standards for COPE approved hours of continuing education
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking
Must be able to lift at least 25lbs
Perform work with OSHA required PPE; Including COVID19 PPE
