As a Patient Care Technician at MercyOne, you will support clinical staff by providing direct patient care and assisting with daily activities for patients of all ages. This role involves vital sign measurement, patient comfort, and safety, as well as emergency support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN
Assists patients with personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, and feeding
Responds to patient calls and anticipates patient needs
Measures vital signs and performs bedside blood glucose testing
Initiates or assists with emergency support measures
Observes and reports changes in patient condition
Sets up equipment and prepares patients for procedures
Required Qualifications
Completion of 75-hour, 120-hour, or 150-hour Certified Nursing Assistant program
Listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry
Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN program or certification as an EMT in Iowa
Must be 16 years of age
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of hire
