Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress patient care
Develop and oversee behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Manage and coach a team of nine behavior experts
Lead research projects related to animal behavior and cruelty prevention
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Master’s or PhD degree in animal Behavior or related discipline (for non-veterinarian candidates)
DVM degree from AVMA accredited veterinary school and NY State veterinary license (for veterinarian candidates)
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with all levels of staff
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Low Stress Handling – Silver certified or ability to obtain certification within first year
