Key Responsibilities
Cooks and prepares food for distribution to patients, cafeteria, and catering services
Obtains appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes
Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian
Confers with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation
Performs all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or 1-year equivalent experience with commercial production food service
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, simple multiplication)
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire
Effective communication and customer service skills
Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and good organization skills
Clean and neat appearance
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen
Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking
Knowledge of food preparation by recipe
