Position Summary:

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, skilled, and evidence-based nursing care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and effective treatment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to patients on a Medical-Surgical unit.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, wound care, and other required treatments.
  • Monitor patient conditions, respond to changes in health status, and notify providers as needed.
  • Coordinate with physicians, case managers, and allied health professionals to support patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Adhere to hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in unit meetings, huddles, and handoff communications to support continuity of care.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN required, BSN preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg RN experience required.
  • First-time travel RNs accepted.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of assignment.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required.

  • Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple patients and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
