Job Title: Labor & Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary:
The Labor & Delivery RN is responsible for providing compassionate, high-quality care to expectant mothers, newborns, and their families during the childbirth process. This role involves monitoring patients, assisting physicians, managing labor and delivery procedures, and ensuring both mother and baby’s safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to mothers during all stages of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum.
- Assess and monitor maternal and fetal health, including vital signs and fetal heart rate.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and epidurals as prescribed.
- Assist physicians and certified nurse-midwives during labor and delivery procedures, including vaginal and cesarean births.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment (fetal monitors, IV pumps, etc.).
- Educate and support patients and families throughout the birthing process.
- Respond to emergency situations such as complications or high-risk deliveries.
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
- Provide postpartum care and breastfeeding support.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license (state-specific).
- BSN preferred; ADN considered with experience.
- BLS and NRP certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum 2 year of nursing experience (L&D or maternal-newborn experience preferred).
- Strong critical-thinking, communication, and patient care skills.
- Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
