Job Description

Join Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates as a Medical Office Assistant where you'll play a crucial role in patient care by assisting providers, managing patient intake, and ensuring a smooth office operation. This position offers a collaborative environment and a variety of responsibilities to support both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete patient intake
  • Clean and straighten exam room between patients
  • Prepare syringes and administer injections
  • Assist provider with injectable procedures
  • Prepare pathology and lab specimens
  • Respond to patient questions in office and via phone
  • Schedule or re-schedule appointments
  • Work in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards
  • Maintain medication samples and discard out-of-date supplies
  • Train other employees on medical assistant duties
  • Assist with check-in or check-out procedures as needed
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program
  • Professionalism and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of medical assisting experience
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with doctors and patients
