Experience / Skills
- Minimum 1 year Level I trauma experience (8 months+ considered); no first-time travelers
- Must have Cerner experience (note on resume)
- Pass dysrhythmia exam prior to assignment (2 attempts max; failure = 6-month DNU)
- SIMs Lab on Day 1: Foley catheter insertion & port-a-cath dressing change; pass/fail
- Must maintain sterile field and demonstrate competency with lifts, restraints, wound care
- RNs must read Phillips telemetry strips
- 2 years ER experience minimum
- Natural hair color required; no facial piercings; men must shave for fit test
Unit / Orientation
- Beds: Acute – 36; Subacute – 54; Trauma Bays – 6 (no travelers)
- Charge Nurse: 2 on shift (light patient load)
- PCTs: 4 for sitters
- Ratios: 1:4
- EMR: Cerner
- RT 24/7; pharmacy 24/7 (pharmacist in ER 10 hrs/day)
- Common diagnoses: Trauma, burns, peds transfers; 88,000 patients/year (~250–300/day), 30–40 psych holds
- Shifts: 7a–7p, 7p–7a, 11a–11p, 1p–1a
- Telemetry: Phillips monitors; RNs must interpret
