Job Description Summary:
The purpose of the Histotechnologist is to perform basic histotechnology procedures of processing, embedding, cutting, mounting and staining of tissue specimens for evaluation and diagnosis by Pathologists; to perform basic special stains and prepare solutions as needed; to use, care and maintain histology instruments; to perform quality control and quality assurance; to perform specialized procedures; to perform research and development of new procedures; and to observe all relatedResponsibilities And Duties:
5% Receive and process specimens from all sources OR, Outpatient, Outreach, etc. . Include accessioning compute r , identification and labeling of individual specimens. Ensure that the specimen meets all the established acceptance criteria for submitting specimens. This responsibility requires keen attention to detail.Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED (Required)HT - Histotechnician Registered - American Society for Clinical PathologyAdditional Job Description:
Two to three years post High school training two to three years previous Experience and three to six months time on the job.
