Job Description

Join Raytheon's Mechanical Analysis and Test Department as a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer, where you'll lead structural analyses and generate innovative solutions for complex engineering problems. Your expertise will directly contribute to national defense efforts by ensuring product robustness throughout various program phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programs
  • Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance
  • Analyze test data to validate and correlate models
  • Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews
  • Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Generate detailed, archival technical reports
  • Travel to test sites to support test or design discussions
  • Act as a technical leader and develop department processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 10+ years of relevant experience, or 14+ years of experience without a degree
  • Experience with structural analysis tools (PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in structural analysis of complex systems
  • Understanding of mechanical principles for classical structural analysis
  • Experience leading teams and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction
  • Experience with dynamic shock and vibration analysis
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tools such as CREO
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience presenting to external customers
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities
  • Advanced degree in related disciplines
