Key Responsibilities
Conduct examinations and write prescriptions under physician supervision
Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
Obtain health history to assess patient status
Order/perform laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests
Treat illnesses, give injections, and suture wounds
Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care
Counsel patient/family on preventive health care
Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and clinical guideline development
Required Qualifications
License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in physician assistant studies (for PA)
Passing grade on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (for PA)
Current certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (for PA)
At least one year of experience as a physician assistant in ambulatory health care (for PA)
Current CPR certification
Graduation from a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED (for NP)
Current certification as a nurse practitioner by AANPCB or ANCC (for NP)
Successful completion of pharmacology coursework acceptable to NYSED (for NP)
At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care (for NP)
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting (for NP)
