Job Description
Join Sanford Health as a Child Life Specialist, where you'll create enriching play activities and therapeutic interventions for pediatric patients, fostering resilience and coping skills. This role emphasizes family-centered care and collaboration with healthcare teams to enhance the well-being of children in medical settings.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate, and implement developmentally appropriate play activities and expressive arts for pediatric patients
Serve as the child's advocate in collaboration with the healthcare team
Establish appropriate interventions to alleviate distress
Promote family-centered care and strengthen coping and resiliency skills
Provide ongoing assessment of interventions
Oversee and direct utilization of volunteers in the Child Life department
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, or related field
Completion of Child Life internship
Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or must obtain within one year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years experience working with various age groups of children
Experience working with pediatric population in a therapeutic setting
