Job Description

Join Uncommon Schools as a College Counselor, where you will guide students through the college application process and help them achieve their academic dreams. You'll collaborate with families, create a culture of readiness, and work closely with colleges to ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach 11th and 12th grade college seminar courses
  • Guide students through the college application process
  • Build a culture of college and career readiness
  • Collaborate with parents and families
  • Build relationships with college admissions offices
  • Support planning and execution of college visits and information sessions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years experience in an urban district or charter school setting
  • Experience working with high school students and families
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Skilled in using data to drive improvements in the college counseling process
  • Strong digital literacy including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Naviance, and PowerSchool

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience within the college admissions field
  • Experience in an urban setting with BIPOC students
