Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and play a pivotal role in supporting animal welfare in underserved communities. You'll lead a dedicated team, provide high-quality veterinary care, and ensure a positive client experience, all while contributing to the mission of improving the lives of animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s CVC
  • Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
  • Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and coaching
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and spay/neuter surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate and quality preventive care to patients
  • Schedule staff for optimal coverage
  • Participate in meetings regarding veterinary medicine and research

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
