Observation Unit RN Job Details – Marquette, MI

• Location: Marquette, Michigan 49855 (Upper Peninsula)
• Healthcare Setting: Observation Unit, 225-bed specialty care hospital
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/8/2025 – End: 3/9/2026)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour shifts (Days: 07:00-19:00); weekends and holidays required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing
• Patient Population: Adults (18+)
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1880-$2020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and Telemetry/ECG Competency certifications
• Telemetry nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to Medical, Cardiac, and Neuro-Ortho Units
• Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and communication skills
• Comfortable in fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environments

Observation Unit RN Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor progress
• Develop, implement, and adjust nursing care plans per provider orders and patient needs
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to protocols
• Monitor and report vital signs, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings
• Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Cerner EHR
• Facilitate efficient admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Respond to emergencies and perform interventions within RN scope of practice
• Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
