Job Description

Join Optum as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) and play a vital role in transforming healthcare delivery. You'll work in a collaborative environment, providing essential nursing care and support to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all nursing duties within the scope of a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse
  • Participate in implementing established education plans for patients and their families
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by providers and RNs
  • Document chief complaint and room patients according to policy
  • Telephonically obtain information on chief complaint and symptoms
  • Collect data and perform focused nursing assessment of patients
  • Record patient assessment and care in the medical record
  • Review patient records and report relevant information to the provider
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and treat patients with respect
  • Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms
  • Practice standard infection control precautions
  • Ensure medication management follows policies and procedures
  • Fulfill medication refill requests following approved protocols
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current and unrestricted State Vocational/Practical Nursing license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures
  • Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records
  • Proven effective listening and communication skills
  • Proven good communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform medical procedures, give injections and perform phlebotomy
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with providers/staff, patients, and the community
  • If required by clinic, IV certification must be obtained
  • Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to specific diseases

Preferred Qualifications

  • IV certification
  • 2+ years of experience in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
