Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian and lead a dedicated team to provide essential veterinary care in underserved communities. You will support and train fellow veterinarians while ensuring high-quality care for pets and their owners. This role combines leadership with hands-on veterinary practice, making a meaningful impact in animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in spay/neuter techniques and medical protocols
  • Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and developmental coaching
  • Ensure team training in low stress handling techniques
  • Perform high quality, high volume spay/neuter procedures
  • Provide preventive and basic care to patients

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Excellent work attendance record
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
