Job Details:
• Work in a 24-bed emergency department with 4 critical care rooms and 1 trauma room
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 for general ED, 1:2 or 1:1 for ICU patients depending on acuity
• Required to work every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days, Friday/Saturday for nights)
• Holiday requirements negotiable but must work some major holidays including July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day
• 2 on-call shifts per 28-day schedule required
• Float between east and west emergency departments only, generally pre-scheduled
• Block scheduling available but limited to no more than 4 consecutive shifts
• Minimum 2 years emergency department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC
• Must demonstrate conscious sedation skills and critical thinking for AMI management
• Navy blue Dignity scrubs required
• Hospital orientation includes two days plus one 12-hour shift in each ED with mentor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Travelers allowed to perform triage after demonstrating capability
• Manage ED holds and work with intake model for lower acuity patients
• Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, minor trauma, and respiratory distress
• Work with ED techs, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and radiology staff
• Read own EKG strips and perform troubleshooting on respiratory equipment

This healthcare facility operates as a Level 4 trauma center and STEMI receiving stroke center, providing comprehensive emergency medical services to the community. The emergency department treats 80-110 patients daily and features modern equipment including separate psychiatric seclusion rooms, 24/7 security presence, and adjacent radiology services. The facility maintains a collaborative care model with dedicated ED physicians, mid-level providers, skilled technicians, and respiratory therapists working together to deliver quality emergency care.
