Job Description

Join our team as a Radiologic Technologist at Massena Hospital, where you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging to support patient care. This per diem position offers flexibility while ensuring you provide exceptional service in a compassionate environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read charts, prescriptions, and radiology requests to ascertain valid physician orders
  • Obtain pertinent clinical information and follow special physician requests
  • Prepare contrast media according to physician's order or departmental policy
  • Assure proper patient identity prior to performing an x-ray procedure
  • Question female patients of childbearing age regarding pregnancy before x-ray procedures
  • Report positive or questionable responses to the radiologist or referring physician
  • Perform diagnostic x-ray procedures not involving fluoroscopy
  • Assist physicians during fluoroscopic and invasive radiology procedures
  • Function in the operating room to provide diagnostic x-ray coverage
  • Lift and move patients with assistance
  • Operate all stationary and mobile x-ray equipment
  • Notify supervisor of equipment deficiencies
  • Develop x-rays and maintain processing equipment
  • Maintain assigned x-ray room and ensure it is stocked with necessary supplies
  • Assist in the operation of the x-ray file room as needed
  • Label all studies correctly

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology
  • Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist
  • New York State Department of Health Licensure and Registered with ARRT
  • BLS within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care
  • Good reading and deductive skills to interpret physician requests and solve problems
  • Sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal with apprehensive patients
  • Positive and effective communication skills
