Job Description

Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative Lead, where you'll greet patients, ensure smooth registration, and enhance health outcomes. This role involves leading a team to provide exceptional customer service and support to improve community health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes patients in person
  • Collects demographic and insurance information
  • Checks in or interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
  • Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
  • Uses resources to complete registration for complex accounts
  • Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers
  • Explains cost information to patients as necessary
  • Collects co-pays or deductibles
  • Assists patients with applications for financial assistance programs
  • Coordinates workflow among employees in the work area
  • Directs and checks the work of others
  • Participates in the orientation and training of employees
  • Provides technical and functional guidance to employees
  • May act as a back-up for all positions
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of revenue cycle or health insurance experience
  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 2:30pm - 11:00pm
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Ability to occasionally work on call & report to work within 30 minutes
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Leadership experience
  • Epic experience
  • Financial Counseling experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel
