Job Description
Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative Lead, where you'll greet patients, ensure smooth registration, and enhance health outcomes. This role involves leading a team to provide exceptional customer service and support to improve community health.
Key Responsibilities
Greets and welcomes patients in person
Collects demographic and insurance information
Checks in or interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
Uses resources to complete registration for complex accounts
Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers
Explains cost information to patients as necessary
Collects co-pays or deductibles
Assists patients with applications for financial assistance programs
Coordinates workflow among employees in the work area
Directs and checks the work of others
Participates in the orientation and training of employees
Provides technical and functional guidance to employees
May act as a back-up for all positions
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
2+ years of revenue cycle or health insurance experience
2+ years of customer service experience
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Ability to work 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Ability to work weekends as needed
Ability to occasionally work on call & report to work within 30 minutes
Must be 18 years of age or older

Leadership experience
Epic experience
Financial Counseling experience
Advanced level of proficiency with Excel
