Job Description

Join Hartford HealthCare Medical Group as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, where you will establish a new clinical program and provide exceptional care to patients in collaboration with healthcare teams. This role focuses on assessing and treating surgical problems, ensuring high-quality patient management in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for in-office consultations
  • Assist attending surgeon in the operating room with colorectal procedures
  • Obtain and document health history and perform physical exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Provide patient counseling regarding diagnosis and treatment
  • Collaborate with physicians for direct care interventions
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals and conduct patient follow-up
  • Ensure timely retrieval of laboratory studies and diagnostic reports
  • Coordinate patient care with clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Document patient health care files according to policies
  • Carry out clinical interventions based on established care plans
  • Counsel patients and families with empathy
  • Initiate call-backs for urgent care and triage messages
  • Maintain commitment to ongoing education and improvement
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Eligibility to be licensed in Connecticut as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Eligibility to be certified as a PA or National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
  • Current State of CT PA/APRN license with prescriptive authority
  • Current DEA number
  • 100% attendance to maintain annual mandatory skill updates

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in general surgery/colorectal surgery, ambulatory surgery or acute care setting for surgical care
  • Ability to communicate in other languages
