Job Description

As the Lead Veterinarian at ASPCA, you'll lead a team dedicated to providing veterinary care to underserved communities. You will support and mentor veterinarians, ensuring high-quality care while managing clinic operations. Join us in making a significant impact on animal welfare in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
  • Support a positive work culture through regular coaching and feedback
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and spay/neuter procedures
  • Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
  • Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage
  • Participate in research and development to improve access to care

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Excellent work attendance record
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
