Key Responsibilities
Securing borders and stopping illegal activity
Questioning individuals and inspecting documents and property
Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers
Tracking and interpreting signs of illegal entry
Performing various checks (farm, traffic, building, city, transport)
Patrolling using vehicles, horses, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, or motorcycles
Required Qualifications
One year of specialized experience at the next lower level for GL-9
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade for GS-11
U.S. Citizenship
Residency in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Age requirement (must be referred before turning 40)
Preferred Qualifications
Current or prior law enforcement experience
Military police experience
Experience in local/state law enforcement
