Job Description
Albany Family Medicine is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment. This role involves supporting physicians in managing patient health, conducting examinations, and offering preventive health counseling.
Key Responsibilities
Practice medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions
Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
Assess patient status by obtaining health history
Order/perform laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests
Treat illnesses, give injections, suture wounds
Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care
Counsel patient/family on preventive health care
Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and clinical guideline development
Required Qualifications
License and active registration as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner in New York State
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in physician assistant studies (for PA candidates)
Successful completion of a nurse practitioner education program (for NP candidates)
Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of experience as a physician assistant in ambulatory health care
At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care
Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting (for NP candidates)
