Position Overview:
Join the surgical team at New London Hospital, a facility equipped with two fully operational operating room suites dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care. As a Certified Surgical Tech (CST), you'll play a vital role in supporting our surgeons and anesthesiology teams during major procedures. Your primary responsibilities will include acting as a scrub technician, maintaining aseptic techniques, preparing the OR environment, and assisting with specialized equipment and supplies. Flexibility in scheduling is offered to accommodate personal needs, but holiday RTO is not available, and candidates should have limited or no planned time off during the assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a scrub technician during surgical procedures, maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Assist in OR suite preparation, including setup and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Support the surgical team by passing instruments, managing supplies, and ensuring all equipment functions correctly.
- Assist in circulating duties when needed, such as patient positioning and documentation, with guidance from the surgical team.
- Adhere to all hospital protocols and safety standards, including COVID vaccination (encouraged but not required).
- Maintain a quiet, focused environment conducive to successful surgeries.
- Share responsibility for maintaining specialized surgical equipment and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards as per the New Hampshire Board of Registration of Medical Technicians.
Certification & License Requirements:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is required.
- Active state license/registration as a CST is mandatory.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience as a Surgical Tech in an OR setting, preferably in a hospital environment.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, and the use of specialized OR equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a small, fast-paced department with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to scheduling needs, including some on-call responsibilities.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Graduation from a recognized surgical technology program or equivalent training.
- Prior experience in a surgical environment within a hospital setting.
- Familiarity with New Hampshire healthcare regulations and surgical best practices.
- Experience working in high-volume or specialized surgical departments is a plus.
Additional Details:
- Housing: Housing options are available (see flyer link).
- Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day, with some flexibility; total weekly hours approximately 40.
- Pay Rate: Weekly stipend of $241.90, taxable pay of $419.49.
- Travel & Distance: Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered.
- Other: COVID vaccination encouraged but not required. NO holiday RTO availability; limited or no time off permitted during assignment.
