Job Description
Join Wake County Public School System as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, where you'll empower students with visual impairments to navigate their environments safely and independently, fostering their social and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
Provide itinerant orientation and mobility services for students with visual impairments
Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members
Perform assessments to determine orientation and mobility needs
Develop Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals
Provide instructional resources and materials
Communicate progress with parents and caregivers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Three years of experience supporting teachers and students with visual impairments
Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired (VI)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Special Education
Certification from Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)
Experience teaching students with visual impairments in orientation and mobility
